The Namo Maitreya Bodhisattva Dharma Assembly celebrating the birthday of the Bodhisattva was joyfully held at Hua Zang Si in San Francisco on February 15, 2026 and I was able to attend. It was a most auspicious trip to San Francisco. Just after sunrise we saw Buddha Lights in the sky to what seemed to be north of San Francisco while traveling on I-5. The lights were similar to those that I had seen and reported on in the big bluebook H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. It was not like the rainbow around the sun, but patches of rainbows in clouds like I saw over Oakland as I left San Francisco. They were delightful events that foreshadowed the joy and celebration of the ceremony and chanting. Hua Sang Si is a beautiful temple and their nuns and lay supporters make these Dharma Assemblies memorable. You should attend whenever you can. CLICK for a schedule of their events in 2026. You will note in the video below that there are gifts (Godiva Chocolates) and delicious food is served after the ceremony.
I think this was the first time I saw the famous Nectar Raining Magnolia Tree at Hua Zang Si bloom. The tree bore no leaves or flowers when the tree first rained nectar in I think 2001 where I was living with Dorje Pa Mu in southern California. That tree was moved to Hua Zang Si where it has also rained nectar. You can read more about those events in Thus Have I Seen: The Marvelous True Buddha Dharma and Its Power to Transform and in the article listed below. It was gloriously in bloom now in San Francisco, matching the mood of the birthday celebration inside.
