What Else Is New at Learning from Buddha College and Seminary (LFBCS), April 30, 2023

Zoom discussion yesterday, April 29, 2023 covered the introduction to C41-Three Principal Stages & Paths of Buddhist Practice. We explored how Buddhism came to the West from many different cultures and periods of transmission and were introduced to the most famous of the patriarchs and matriarchs of the different practice lineages that exist now in the West. We discussed how the course not only shows how Buddhism has evolved over time and exposure to different cultures, but that each of us evolve in our practice needs as we gain insight from our practice. We were introduced to the teachings of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III as well as Je Tsongkhapa and how these teachings fit in the Lamrim framework for continuing practice. During the Q & A session students explained who H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was and how we knew His identity as well as the same for Je Tsongkhapa. We also discussed why the Buddha Master had incarnated at this time and place and why He left China and came to America. CLICK for articles on the true story behind the persecution of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III which was also discussed and HERE for the exact quote given by the Buddha Master about these events.

Students enrolled in C41 at LFBCS may watch the video of this discussion. It is still possible to enroll in C41 and join the continuing discussions on this course. Next Saturday, May 6, from 9:00-11:00 am Pacific Daylight Time, we will discuss the preliminaries including cultivation, the vidyas, and meditation.
