These photos provide an overview of what we have and are planning for Sanger and Hesperia.
Sanger, California
The above montage includes representations of key features and events at the main Xuanfa Institute organization–the Holy Vajrasana Temple and Retreat Center located north of the town of Sanger in the greater Fresno area of California. Many of you know the early parts of the picture, but some of you may not know our entire history. It shows H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in His yellow robe, who in 2003 gave me a very special red Vajra Pill in an Inner Tantric Initiation. That pill flew from my hand to an unknown destination to be kept until I was ready to receive it. Look closely and you will see the red pill in the crystal stupa on a crystal lotus in front of the Tibetan-style “Flaming Wish-Fulfilling Jewel” corbel and red post, one of many that adorn the temple.
Seven years later members of the Institute erected a yurt, intended as a retreat cabin and started to dismantle a dilapidated shed and tear down the remains of a chain link fence. On November 8, 2010, as we were about to cut down the second of the poles associated with that fence, the pole started shaking violetly, vibrating back and forth like a giant tuning fork. We had already seen many strange manifestations at this site–rainbows appeared in the yurt and around the sun, golden globes of light were seen at different places, and Holy Dharma Wheels (orbs) were everywhere. We were told that the Kalachakra Vajra, a wrathful form of Shakyamuni Buddha had blessed the poles and the sacred pill had flown to this site. Also shown in the above photo are the multi limbed Kalachakra Vajra and Consort, Lord Yama with the “Wheel of Life,” and the Heavenly Dharma King Dhṛtarāṣṭra from the East, all paintings of some of the Dharma Protectors who guard the temple. They also reflect that the temple is tri-yana (Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana)–representing teachings from a diverse foundation of Buddhist teachings.
The photo includes hundreds of people from all over the world who made pilgrimages to the site to receive the blessings from these holy poles. Sometimes the poles would shake, sometimes not. In 2014 a sacred Bodhi Tree was installed at the site, shown here behind the drawing of the Sri Lankan-style stupa proposed to commemorate these events and the coming to America of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. The Cambodian nun in the lower right corner had amitra or nectar rain down on her from a nearby mulberry tree while she attended a Solitary Retreat at this site in 2024.
The photo below shows our current master plan for the Sanger site including the Stupa of Holy Manifestations that will honor the coming to America of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the holy manifestations that have occurred at the site.

Hesperia, California
The photo below showa the three phases of development planned for the Holy Vajrasana Green Tara Temple and other facilities to be built at Holy Heavenly Lake in Buddhist Town, Hesperia, California. The first phase on the left will contain the Holy Heavenly Lake Xuanfa Dharma Center, a few complete hermit-caves for Solitary Retreats, and a possible shop located on the canal that will connect this site with the other temples and commericial uses. The middle plan adds the Green Tara Temple itself with a library, a small gift shop, and public rest rooms and baths for the adjacent simple hermit-caves and campsites. The small temple will also face the canal. The last plan is the final master plan for the site. There are also floor plans for the simple hermit-cave and the complete version with a tiny bath and storage space. The Green Tara Buddha looks down on the site of this proposed development in the upper right. The bottom of all three site plans is the rim road that follows the Mojave River that is shown as a diagonal line of shrubs in the background photo of the site.

The Xuanfa Institute site is located directly to the left of the above photo.
