Our recent discussion of “The Relationship between Dharma and Prajna” I think left as many questions as it answered. I decided to go back to earlier classes when the Buddha Master gave us important background to help us with our study of the sutra Expounding (*Imparting) the Absolute Truth through the Heart Sutra (ETATTTHS). I had hoped to hold classes in Hesperia at our temporary Holy Heavenly Lake Xuanfa Dharma Center on this part of the series of classes this fall, but was unable to do so. I am hopeful to continue those classes in the spring.
To help gain insight into this incredible sutra, I am posting two videos of our discussions on the meaning of “Ta” from a class held in 2023 on the meaning of the terms used in the title of the Heart Sutra in DCB21. Although I realize the videos we did of our discussion on the meaning of “Ta” or “dhyana” and its relationship to “Prajna” contain misunderstandings and confusion, they do include the essential questions and the quotes provided by the Buddha Master on these questions. I now believe that the way “Dharma” is used in relationship to “Prajna” is addressing the same issues. We do intend to hold another class on DCB21 and further study the related questions. For those who are enrolled in DCB21, you may go to those questions and find the discussion of the different levels of meaning of “Prajna” and more. There are also some videos that cover this in C41(A) in 2024.
Lesson 6A-“Prajna” stops at 48:16 when Lesson 6B-“Ta” starts.
Lesson 6B-“Ta” Part II stops at 1:22:23.
* NOTE: “imparting” was used instead of “expounding” in the translation of the title of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s sutra on the Prajna Parami-ta Heart Sutra when this video was created.
