Sorry, The October 10-16, 2026 retreat is now full. You may submit your name to be added to our wait list. We scheduled three seven-day group retreats at the temple. The first one was held on April 18-24, 2026 the second on June 19-25. The final retreat this year will be held October 10-16, 2026. It will start with chanting and introspection at 6:00 am (Pacific Time) and Oryoki breakfast at 7:00 am (Pacific Time), so unless you are commuting, you may want to come to the temple a day early. You may also join the first moving meditation session at 8:20 am, but the temple is locked before 8:40 am when the first sitting meditation session starts. You may enter the Library or Community Room and wait for the next session of moving meditation to enter.

Our space is very limited, so this is a first come, first served basis for enrollment and accommodations. Orientation and instructions for the Tathagata True Dharma (Ru Lai Zheng Fa) Meditation, the Oryoki meals, Temple cultivation, and the Morning and Evening chanting and introspection will be provided.
If you have not yet done so, you should read H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s The Great Dharma of Zen Practice before attending. There is also a brief summary of that discourse that can help you prepare for this retreat. Understanding of Learning from Buddha and the Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation are also recommended.
Here is the revised schedule for the retreat which will end at 6:00 pm Pacific Time on October 16, 2026. The color coding is to indicate how the Buddha Hall is being used: pink is as it’s original purpose-The Buddha Hall. Unless something else is going on there, you may make offerings to the Buddhas; then, Green is as the Dining Hall; and coral is when it is the Meditation Hall with focus on the Meditation Altar. You will also note that Dharma readings, instructions, or chanting is permitted where there is red text, but silence is observed 24/7 throughout the rest of the retreat. That means no phones OR other electronic devises. The Abbot’s Assistant will collect them before you start your retreat.
We stopped doing group retreats when COVID hit, but I am hoping we can continue with three per year–Spring, Summer (before annual Buddha Master Birthday Dharma Assembly), and Autumn. There are also several private Solitary Retreats planned for this year.
Please use the following links to make your reservations (we need a separate form for each person attending to plan for appropriate Oryioki meals): Because we are a small temple, we can only accommodate 15-17 people.
