What Else Is New at Learning from Buddha College and Seminary (LFBCS), January 1, 2023

Two new courses—D07.1(A)-Concise Discourses and D07:2(A)-Discourses by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Answers Questions from Western Disciples—from 2006 and 2009 are available for all beginning students. Questions range from the bardo to dragons to zen. Like most of our classes these are using readings of preliminary and unofficial translations of unpublished discourses on a range of topics of concern to different students.

There is also another new course, a biography of Lady Niguma (10th-11th centuries CE) who was one of the Matriarchs of the Tibetan Shangpa Kangyu Sect. She is of special interest to us as she received her lineage directly from Dorje Chang Buddha. CLICK for article.

I understand that there were 15 discourses given by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha late in 2021 on trips that were taken with a number of disciples that will be available in text form in English. The discourses are already available on CDs in Chinese. They were imparted “In Response to the Karmic Conditions and Needs of Disciples” and provided these disciples with the opportunity to ask questions of the Buddha Master. I am assuming that they are similar to the sessions you will find from 2006 and 2009 mentioned above.

The Saturday morning discussions for LFBCS students will start again at 9:00 am on the title of the Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra with the first of many sessions on “Prajna,” one of the most important and central features of the entire sutra. Those who are enrolled in either the Buddhist Studies or Xiuxing Seminary programs can still register for the class and watch videos of other sessions as well as download the questions to be used in the class.
