This article is intended for non-Buddhist and Buddhists alike. My guru, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, told me and I often reflect on His words; “You do not need to be a Buddhist to benefit from the Buddha’s teachings. Before I went to talk with a senior class of Catholic boys, I asked His advice on what to tell them and how to communicate what our practice is. He said, and I will never forget it, “Remember, not all Bodhisattva’s are Buddhists.” this article is written from that perspective.

This article includes two videos to explain just who Dorje Chang Buddha is and what He taught. The first is a short video by the Canadian Institute of Buddhist Studies Society. It provides background on various aspects of the Buddha–the Dorje Chang Buddha Lineage as expressed in the formless original Dharmakaya that manifested as the Sambogakaya and as the Holy Being who actually incarnated twice in this world to help us understand the way things are and enable us to discover who we are as well. The second video takes this same framework a step further and shows us how the wheel of Dharma turned to reveal the truth of the universe in different times and places and what we have to do to awaken to this truth and discover who we really are.

This video traces the evolution of Buddhism and the three “Turnings of the Wheel of Dharma”. It shows how different schools or sects formed with each level of teaching that was revealed. It is said that Shakyamuni Buddha taught 84,000 different methods to enable us to overcome our 84,000 different obstructions to knowing the truth. This video provides a different type of Lineage Tree. It shows how the Dharma has come to us and how we can learn from all the legitimate lineages of Buddhism from the teachings that formed from what was given 2,500 years ago in India from the Lineage of the Elders or Theravada tradition to the Wideom and Method Lineages that produced the various schools of the Mahayana Vehicle to the esoteric schools of the Vajrayana Vehicle. This video attempts to show how these all came to us and are all part of the teachings that can help us in different ways. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III taught us to respect all these great traditions and also gave us new ways to find these truths in His great sutras and discourses. We can learn from Buddha so as to cultivate our behavior and our minds to also realize the truth and thus gain liberation from the ignorance that binds us to the limitations of being ordinary lving beings.
