H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has presented a sort of road map that must be followed if one wants to be liberated in this lifetime. The Buddha Master provided a list of sutras and commentaries that must be mastered for anyone wanting to have disciples that is provided an another article on this BLOG. That blog also lists four works that are essential for all serious students who want to become liberated. However, only one of those four, What Is Cultivation? has been available to the public in English. Now the other three (Expounding the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra, The Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation,  and Learning From Buddha) may be heard in preliminary form at the Holy Vajrasana Temple. We have had Learning From Buddha, which proves the steps that must be followed in yidam practice and other techniques and guidelines, for some time and many of you have heard either me read the draft text or Suonan Ciren Rinpoche do a translation of the CD. The availability of the other two is new.

Whether you wish to follow H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III or even become a Buddhist, I urge you to find a way to read or at least hear these teachings if you are serious about becoming enlightened. Expounding the Absolute Truth will tell you what you need to know to understand and realize emptiness while the Mahamudra of Liberation offers advanced practices in cultivation and the means to be able to receive the highest dharma initiations and empowerments. There is another work in the big blue book H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in Chinese known as The Sutra on Definitive Truth that the Buddha Master has recommended we master. Six Discourses were given on that short sutra by the Buddha Master in the series of discourses known as the “Trip to the East Coast” that help explain that work. I have preliminary translations of these that can also be read. It answers questions about Expounding the Absolute Truth and is excellent.

There is also a bilingual CD of a discourse recently given by His Holiness that I reported on last week on the source of our suffering. I have reviewed the second related discourse that is also intended for Western students that explains our greatest demons and how to defeat them. I hope it will also be available soon as well. I think the text of these two teachings may be available, too. Let’s hope so, as these two incredible discourses summarize concepts and principles that can be found in many other discourses, but are presented here for Western students who do not have access to these other discourses. The second discourse contains reference to practices that I have never heard before. In anticipation of these being available, I have listed active Xuanfa Dharma Centers where you will be able to hear them and learn more about the teachings. I am hoping we can establish other centers near you. I do believe the karmic conditions are maturing where western students will have more access to the dharma and I pledge to do whatever I can to make that happen.

REMINDER: We will start the study of The Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation (SAUMOL) next week. It contains two different “Mind Essences” that are essential for most yidam practice. CLICK for recent BLOG article and for detailed schedule. You can come for any or all of the sessions, but please let us know if you will be here for meals or want to stay at the temple. We will start reading Expounding the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra, at our December retreat and continue during January and February.
