Changing the Name of the Buddha Master’s text on the “Heart Sutra”

I have a confession. I have been wrong in how I have talked about this wonderful sutra by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. I have called it a commentary as I did not understand fully just what this wonderful text is. The reason this is such a wonderful text and unlike all other so-called “commentaries” on the Heart Sutra is that this is not just a commentary. The Buddha Master uses the Heart Sutra as a construct to provide us with dharma on how to actually realize prajna, not just explain Avalokiteshvara’s text. That is why the name will be changed from “expounding” to “imparting”. To expound means to explain, explicate, elucidate, interpret, or make something clear or understandable. It implies a making plain or intelligible what is not immediately obvious or entirely known. Of course the Buddha Master’s text does that, but being the original thinking of a Buddha it is much more. It is actually a sutra since the Buddha is using this text to teach living beings how they can realize prajna and ultimately become Buddhas. As you have the opportunity to study and read this amazing text you will understand why we must be more precise in what we call it. We should have known just how special it was when the Buddhas bestowed nectar in honor of this sutra being released in 2014 as seen in the photo above. CLICK for more on that event.

    • One mistranslated word can make a colossal difference. Now I understand why this was so much more profound than other commentaries that I have read on the “Heart Sutra.” Best wishes to you and your extended family, especially the four legged ones.
