Trip to Alaska

Glacier breaking off in Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska.

I wanted to see the massive glaciers in Alaska before they all melted. The first one I saw outside of Juneau was a shock.  There was not much ice to be seen and what was there was dirty and disappointing. As I looked more closely, there was a lot of color and texture, but it was not what I expected. However, the glaciers further south at Glacier Bay shown above were very beautiful. There is still a lot of ice in Alaska, but you can see it may not be there for long. Anchorage, which is further north of where I was had a terrible heat wave earlier this year. I believe it has the hottest weather they have ever experienced. It was quite cool where we were-sweater weather-which was pretty nice compared to the triple digit readings in Fresno and even Pasadena. It was a fantastic trip and I am very glad I went.
