“Living Beings Are Lost in Their Deluded Self, Not Seeing Their True Self”

An excellent CD of a recent dharma discourse given by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has just been released in both English and Chinese. It is an excellent introduction to the study of both the Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation (SAUMOL) and Expounding the Absolute Truth through the Heart Sutra (EATTHS). It is available to all dharma centers and temples and can be listened to at the Holy Vajrasana Temple. It covers the practice of meditation and realizing the dharmakaya or one’s Buddha Nature. It explains the four major hindrances we encounter and the source of our avidya and afflictions. It is so comprehensive, you could even consider it a survey of the major concepts in Buddhism.  It is especially appropriate for our current times and the suffering we see around us and experience, offering an alternative. It is an amazing discourse both in terms of content and in terms of it being the first (of I hope many) discourse oriented toward westerners and available in English. The CD starts in Chinese, followed by a short translation in English, another section in Chinese, and so on.

We will listen to it at our forthcoming retreats and classes. I urge you to find a place where you can hear it. Most active dharma centers and temples that follow H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III should or will soon have it.

It even draws on the deep, esoteric meaning of The Journey to the West, a popular Chinese novel about the adventures of Dharma Master Xuanzang and the amazing Monkey King, Sun Wukong.  Journey to the West is available in English and is recommended reading. Dharma Master Xuanzang (Hsuan-tsang) was an actual famous Chinese Buddhist monk, scholar, traveller, and translator who travelled to India in the seventh century and described the interaction between Chinese Buddhism and Indian Buddhism during the early Tang dynasty.
